Bad gas committee report to be made public

Energy Minister Phillip Paulwell has promised that the findings of the committee set up to probe the bad gas scandal will be made public.

Jamaicans have been calling for full disclosure from the government on the issue, especially following the decision not to name the entities implicated in an initial investigation by the Bureau of Standards Jamaica.

The committee has been mandated to submit its first set of findings by the end of this month.

Paulwell has told the committee, chaired by Noel DaCosta that it must be relentless in pursuing the facts and let the consequences follow.

Last week, 17 gas stations were ordered to close pumps selling the bad gas that is alleged to have contained what is called 'unwashed gum'.

Motorists have complained that the bad gas has caused damage to their engines.
