No stopping Sir South

WITH the fancied horses having dominated Wednesday's eight-race programme at Caymanas Park, things should be different on tomorrow's 11-race programme featuring large and competitive fields

Both SUPER-6s start anew with guaranteed minimums of $750,000.

We look at the first Super-6, which commences with a $450,000 - $400,000 claiming race over 1400 metres, to be contested by nine starters, including top contenders SIR SOUTH under 3.0kg claiming apprentice Dane Dawkins; and FLYING MIRACLE, with fellow apprentice Odean Edwards aboard.

When both horses last met over 1200 metres on May 11 on a $450,000 claiming tag, SIR SOUTH stormed through a furlong out to win by 51/2 in a fast 1:13.3, beating the consistent FLYING MIRACLE into third, 71/2 lengths away.

Given the additional furlong, FLYING MIRACLE is sure to get closer, but SIR SOUTH, now trained by Ryan Darby, is still fancied to hold him at bay.

Next on the programme is a straight five race for conditional $180,000 claimers in which nine will run. The three that matter are WAR CHIP (Bebeto Harvey up), WINIT (Javaniel Patterson), and ROVING STAR (Ruja Lahoe), all very fit for this race.

WAR CHIP from the stables of Lawrence Freemantle is very effective over the straight course, and despite ROVING STAR's good second to GRANDE MARQUE over 800 metres straight last Saturday, it has to be WAR CHIP, with only 51.0kg.

THAT'S THE MAN, having finished second to PRINCESS EMANUELLE and BLUEPEPSI LINKS in his last two races, gets the nod over the lightly raced but improving UNCLE BUNNY in the third race for maiden three-year-olds over the straight. Both horses should be carried by Super-6 players in this race, with THAT"S THE MAN under 3.0kg claiming apprentice Hakeem Pottinger given the edge in a 12-strong field.

 

WINNING DEBUT

 

NINELIFECAT, a three-year-old grey colt by Rising Moon out of Zama, owned, trained, and bred by Carl Anderson, is tipped to make a winning debut in race four for maiden three-year-olds over the straight. He will report forward in condition, and with most of his 11 opponents still backward, he gets the nod over Wayne DaCosta's CREDENCE with top jockey Omar Walker aboard.

THE last two races in the first Super-6 should be won by PINELOPE, a nap selection with apprentice Dane Dawkins astride, and the lightly raced BIG BLACK NATION in the sixth, with Kerry-Gayle Robinson riding for trainer Fitzroy Glispie.
