JEP scores with health expo

Samuel Hibbert travelled in his wheelchair to join more than 500 persons from communities in and around Old Harbour Bay in St Catherine for a health exposition staged by the Jamaica Energy Partners (JEP) last Thursday.

"This is a very special day for me as I will be doing my medical examination for free, plus there is a pharmacy here. I am thankful to the Jamaica Energy Partners for this opportunity. It would have cost me a whole lot for the treatment," Hibbert told The Sunday Gleaner.

The free medical treatment included prostate examinations, pap smears, dental examinations and HIV tests.

"We were invited here by Jamaica Energy Partners and we are pleased to be here. It is, indeed, a pleasure to serve the persons who have turned out. We have examined hundreds and it is a wonderful feeling," said Dr Calliston Clarke, a Calabar old boy who now lives in the United States.

Clarke told our news team that he was a part of the Beulah Baptist Church Health Mission from Tampa, Florida, and was pleased to return to his home country to serve.

THRILLED TO SERVE

He said the JEP invited the 13-member medical delegation to the expo and they were all thrilled to serve.

Chief Executive Officer of the JEP Wayne McKenzie said the Old Harbour community is very special to the company, which is a private energy provider.

"We started operations in Old Harbour Bay. It has enabled us to expand to western Kingston and, as such, we want to say thanks. There can be nothing better than empowering persons through good healthy habits, so we are just saying thanks," said McKenzie.

He said that the annual health expo is a service the JEP company will continue for some time.
