Driver in tragic Bog Walk Gorge crash confesses to police

The police say El Frego Slew, the man who was feared dead in Saturday’s tragic motor vehicle mishap in the Bog Walk Gorge, St Catherine was the driver of the ill-fated vehicle.

Head of the St Catherine North police, Senior Superintendent Anthony Powell, says Slew who turned up at the Spanish Town Police Station yesterday, confirmed that he was driving the vehicle.

It was believed that Stephen Ricketts, one of the deceased, had been driving.

Slew and seven passengers were travelling in a Suzuki Vitara SUV when it plunged over the Flat Bridge into the Rio Cobre.

A 19-year-old man was rescued shortly after the crash, but six others perished:

The deceased are: Stephen Ricketts, Benjamin Ellis, Shaveon Ricketts, Shujay Ricketts and Shantel Morris all of Commodore district, Linstead in St Catherine, and Oneil Robinson.
