Service vehicle crash leaves cops hospitalised
Two members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force were hospitalised yesterday in serious condition after the service vehicle they were travelling in crashed into a wall along Slipe Road in Kingston.
Initial reports were that the driver of the service vehicle was trying to avoid a pothole when the crash took place.
However, official reports from the Jamaica Constabulary Force's Corporate Communications Unit said that the officers were travelling in a southerly direction along Slipe Road when the driver of the vehicle attempted to avoid hitting a pedal cyclist. The vehicle then crashed into a wall. The names of the officrs had not been released up to press time.
Theresa Burke, an eyewitness and good Samaritan in the incident, confirmed police reports that the driver of the vehicle, a policewoman, slammed into the wall after swerving from the path of a cyclist.
Burke said that she heard shouts of help coming from the policewoman to which she responded.
