Policeman among three arrested in Hanover ganja bust

A police sergeant, dressed in his uniform, was last night arrested in Green Island, Hanover, along with two other men, after they were held in a truck allegedly loaded with 2,000 pounds of marijuana.
The identity of the policeman has not been released, but according to a law enforcement source, he is assigned to the Westmoreland Division
The names of the other men are also being withheld.
They will be interviewed in the presence of their lawyers before being charged with possession of, dealing in and taking steps to export ganja, the source said.
It is reported that detectives from the Narcotics Police Division were conducting targetted operations in Hanover shortly after 8 o'clock last evening when they approached a truck and a motorcar parked at a section of the Old Green Island main road.
The occupant of the car reportedly fired shots on the approach of the police and ran off in the area.
However, the truck and the three occupants, including the sergeant, were searched and several knitted bags containing the compressed ganja found.
