Digicel not Shaw's service provider

Digicel has released a statement saying it is appalled and disappointed by the inaccurate report that it is the service provider for Finance Minister Audley Shaw.

Shaw has been under even more pressure since it was revealed that he negotiated with his service provider for a $1 million discount on his $8.34 million cell phone bill incurred in one year.

The Gleaner had inaccurately reported that Digicel was the service provider.

"The media has a responsibility to disseminate accurate and factual information to the public – a responsibility that should in no way be taken lightly," a Digicel spokesperson said in a release.

Digicel says it takes serious umbrage to the inaccurate reports and has requested a public apology.
