Security ministry to discuss New Kingston Police Post dilemma with MP

The Ministry of National Security says it plans to hold discussions with the Member of Parliament for South East St Andrew, Julian Robinson, concerning the dilemma facing the New Kingston Police Post.

Robinson went public yesterday with claims that the police post, which serves residents and businesses in the New Kingston area, was facing closure and appealed for the ministry’s urgent intervention.

According to Robinson, the Ministry of National Security was served last year with a notice by the owners of the premises that house the police post.

He said yesterday was the final day for the police to vacate the premises, but added that there has been no response from the ministry.

The MP also indicated that stakeholders in New Kingston had offered to help identify an alternative location to prevent the closure of the police post.

However, according to an official at the ministry, the search for a suitable space to house the New Kingston Police Post has been a difficult task.

As a result, the ministry official said discussions would be held with Robinson to liaise with stakeholders who have offered their assistance.
