Woman shot dead, six other people injured in Clarendon shooting

Gunmen on Sunday evening sprayed bullets on a group of people attending a party in the Clarendon community of Farm.

When the shooting ended, one woman was killed and six other people injured.

A child is among those injured.

The identity of the slain woman has not yet been ascertained.

The Corporate Communications Unit of the Jamaica Constabulary Force confirmed the incident, but could not provide details.

However, according to police sources, a group of residents at a get-together were surprised by gunmen, armed with high-powered weapons.

Since the start of the year, more than 130 people have been killed  in Clarendon.

This is more than the 114 killed over the corresponding period last year.
