Watts stars as Ja Women make it three straight

Off-spinner Vanessa Watts has expressed her delight with yesterday's five-wicket haul which guided Jamaica Women to a seven-wicket win over Leeward Islands Women in their round West Indies Women's T20 Blast clash at Kensington Park.

An out-of-favour West Indies player, Watts ended with five for nine as the Leewards, after being asked to take first strike, were dismissed for 68.

Jamaica, on the back of an unbeaten 28 from the in-form batter Chedean Nation, then cruised to 70 for three off 12 overs.

The triumph was Jamaica's third win in as many matches in the six-team round-robin championship.

"I'm glad I was able to chip in and the team was successful," expressed Watts.

"They were not playing me well as they mostly tried to play across the line of my deliveries.

"I, therefore, tried to bowl as full as I could, and as straight as possible, and it worked."

Jamaica, who defeated Guyana and Windwards in their openers, also saw the form of Nation with the ball continuing.
The seamer, who took four wickets  again Windwards, finished with three for 15.

Opener Eldora Sylvester, 13, topscored for the losers.
Meanwhile, when Jamaica batted, captain Stafanie Taylor, 19, best supported Nation against Tiffany Thorpe, two for 11.
"We're doing well. It is just for us to continue on the form that we are in," continued Watts.
"Hopefully, after that, we will get wins right throughout the tournament, and make our country proud."
Elsewhere, defending champions Trinidad and Tobago suffered their second straight loss when they were beaten by Barbados at Sabina Park.
Barbados, like Jamaica, are now on three wins from as many matches.
Jamaica will next face Trinidad at Sabina Park tomorrow in the second game of a scheduled triple-header. Match time is 2:30 p.m.
