Man who allegedly defrauded elderly Portland couple of millions charged

The police have charged a man for stealing money from the accounts of the elderly Portland couple who were killed last month.

Saqeino Farr, 24, was charged yesterday with seven counts of obtaining goods by means of false pretence and conspiracy to defraud.

The police say Farr, whose mother worked as a domestic helper for the victims 74-year-old Alford Anderson, and his wife Florence, 71, allegedly stole more than $8 million from their credit card accounts and used the money to buy items.

Far is to appear in the Portland Parish Court next Tuesday.

The partially burnt bodies of elderly British couple were found at their home in Mount Pleasant on Friday, June 22.

The police theorised that they were killed to thwart the investigation into the fraud.

The murder investigation is ongoing.
