Mercedes A-Class sedan revealed - Luxury car to hit US in late 2018
German automaker Daimler revealed the first Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan for sale in the US market.
Designed to appeal especially to buyers who are new to the Mercedes brand, the four-door compact luxury car debuted at an event in Brooklyn. It will hit American dealerships in late 2018.
It will be imported to the US from assembly plants in Aguascalientes, Mexico, and Rastatt, Germany. The Mexican plant is a joint operation with the global automotive alliance of Japan's Nissan and France's Renault.
The 2019 Mercedes A-Class sedan will be offered in two variants: The A 220 and the A 220 4MATIC.
Both trim levels get a 2-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with 188 horsepower.
The vehicle follows the Mercedes CLA as the second compact car sold by the brand in the US.
It also will be the first Mercedes with the brand's new infotainment system, dubbed Mercedes-Benz User Experience, or MBUX. It features multiple touch screens and 'touch control buttons' on the steering wheel.
Pricing and fuel economy figures were not released.
