Champion trainer Wayne DaCosta and last year’s runner-up Anthony Nunes are set to dominate the Sunrise-Six at Caymanas Park tomorrow.

DaCosta has sent out two of his big guns in a bid to get closer to Nunes who has been leading the trainers’ race since the start of the season. Nunes now has stakes totalling $10,627,800 just under $4 million ahead of DaCost,a in third with $6,632,825. Trainer Gary Subratie is in second with $9,243,000.

The champion trainer sends out two of his big guns, last year’s top two-year-old RUN THATCHER RUN in Race Three (second of the Super-Six races) while the country’s top rated horse, SHE’S A MANEATER, will face the starter in the sixth. Both are expected to score easy wins.

In the third the unbeaten RUN THATCHER RUN who won last December’s Jamaica Two-year-old Stakes, will only have stable companion AMERICAN INVADER to to worry about in the 1200 metres event. A half-brother to SHE’S A MANEATER (both out of Ahwhofah), RUN THATCHER RUN has trained very well to meet his first engagement for the season. He should keep close to the imported filly AMERICAN INVADER before exploding in the straight for what should be an easy win.

SHE’S A MANEATER has also been working brilliantly. She did a 1:26.0 exercise spin for 1400 meters last Saturday and will prove too classy for her four rivals in the day’s feature, the Chairman’s Trophy over 1500m. SUPERLUMINAL will be seeking his fourth successive win but lacks the pace, even at 50kg, to trouble the outstanding SHE’S A MANEATER.

Nunes is tipped to win the second (Race One of the Sunrise-Six) over 1200 metres for fillies and the fifth, over the same distance, for colts and geldings. In Race Two, DON ALMIGHTY, is expected to live up to his name and run a big race on debut. He has been burning up the exercise track in recent weeks and will prove too good for his rivals. His best work came last Monday, March 11, when galloped 46.3 for 800m and completed the 1000m straight workout in 1:00.3. The man who is expected to dethrone DaCosta this year also has a smart filly, debutant I AM DI ONE, in Race Five. She has been working even better than DON ALMIGHTY and will be contesting a far easier race on paper. On January 23 I AM DI ONE galloped 800m in 47.3 out of the 1800m chute and just a week ago went 1100m in 1:07.1x1.00.3. She also did 46.2x1:00.3 alongside DON ALMIGHTY on March 11.

The remaining two races should be won by DAVIE CROCKETT (Race Four) and LAZER LIGHT (Race Seven).
