Andrew Holness’ Top 10 playlist
It has been scientifically proven that music has the ability to stimulate the body and mind; to catapult a person from one mood to the next in mere seconds. Music, whatever the genre, also acts as a relaxer – to reduce tension and anxiety – for most persons to unwind after a long, tedious day, to clear their minds and just trigger a good time.
With summer winding down, former US President Barack Obama shared a playlist of 44 tracks that he and his family were listening to over the season that added to their good times. It had us wondering what our prime minister, Andrew Holness, was listening to after a busy day at the office.
The only thing our PM shares in common with Obama in terms of musical taste is Koffee’s Toast in their playlist. Reggae and dancehall reigned supreme in Holness’ list, with the musical styles in the playlist shared with The Gleaner ranging from militant expression to giving thanks for simple blessings.

Holness shared his Top 25, and the songs, which lean on the current decade, have themes such as overcoming the odds and making it to the top and staying there. Firm & Strong by Popcaan is one of the main tracks, after all, the title is bold on his Twitter page, aligned with the hashtag ‘New Jamaica’. Then there are titles such as Simple Blessings, Mercy A God and Glory To God.
