Tallawahs lose to TKR yet again

The Jamaica Tallawahs suffered their fourth straight defeat in this year's Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) following a 41 run loss to the defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) in their return fixture at Sabina Park last night.

Batting first, TKR, asked to take first strike, posted a CPL and franchise Twenty20 cricket world record 267 for two off their allotted 20 overs, with New Zealander Colin Munro hitting an unbeaten 96 from 50 deliveries, which included six fours and eight sixes.

The left-hander got good support from opener Lendl Simmons, who made a blistering 86 runs from 42 deliveries, while captain Kieron Pollard chipped in with a belligerent 45 not out from 17 deliveries.

Once again, it was another pathetic bowling performance from the Jamaica Tallawahs, as debutant Afghanistan leg spinner Zahir Khan picked up the only wicket to fall by a bowler for 42 runs.

In reply, the Tallawahs could only manage 226 for five in 20 overs, as opener Glenn Phillips top-scored with 62 and debutants Ramaal Lewis and Javelle Glen, scored unbeaten knocks of 37 and 34 respectively.

The loss leaves the Tallawahs without a point at the bottom of the CPL table, with a game against the Barbados Tridents tomorrow at the same venue at 7 p.m.
