Wolmer’s rout St Mary’s 12-0
KC score hard fought win

Wolmer’s Boys’ sent out a strong warning to their opponents in this year’s Inter-Secondary Schools’ Sports Asssociation (ISSA)/Manning Cup Corporate Area football competition, with a resounding 12-0 victory over St Mary’s College in their opening match at the Stadium East playing field yesterday.
Nathaniel Brooks led the way for Wolmer’s by scoring six goals, as the Heroes’ Circle-based school registered the biggest margin of victory in the competition so far.
In the day’s other games, favourites Kingston College (KC) kicked off their campaign with a 2-0 win over Mona High.
Jaheim Johnson and Ronjay Watson were the goalscorers for the Ludlow Bernard-coached KC.
Bernard said he is happy for the victory, especially as they had to pull out all the stops to secure all three points.
“It was not the performance that we would have wanted, but at least the energy and grit was there,” said Bernard.
“We played a very spirited Mona team and I must give credit to them as they gave us a warm time in the first half of the game. But I think we withstood the pressure that they came with, and eventually we settled down and played our game,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Charlie Smith recorded a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Kingston Technical High School, St George’s College edged Kingston High 2-1, and St Catherine High beat Clan Carthy High 1-0.
