Jahshii to appear in court February 14

Dancehall entertainer Jahshii was arrested in Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth, on Friday night for breaches of the Disaster Risk Management Act (DRMA).

The fast-rising deejay went live on Instagram during what appeared to be his arrest, showing hands secured together by handcuffs.

It was later confirmed by Dennis Brooks, senior communications strategist at the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, that the recording artiste and others were taken into custody for DRMA breaches.

He said, "Mluleki Clarke, otherwise called Jahshii and several others, were charged for breaches of the DRMA in Leads district, Santa Cruz."

GRANTED BAIL

Jahshii was granted bail and is to appear before the court on February 14.

The Media artiste has dominated headlines in recent weeks. He described the police as being corrupt in a recent interview with Entertainment Report's Anthony Miller.

On Christmas Eve, Jahshii reportedly performed at a party in Clarendon. However, his set was cut short when members of the May Pen police, who were patrolling the area, entered the event.

Thirty-two people were reportedly taken into custody and charged under the DRMA, but Brooks confirmed with our newsroom at the time that Jahshii was not among those arrested or in custody on that occasion and that police were investigating the Clarendon event.

When asked if Jahshii was attending an event in St Elizabeth and if his arrest was in any way related to breaches in Clarendon, Brooks explained that the information on last night's arrest was all he had to share.

Jahshii's debut as a dancehall artiste was at the age of four when he deejayed "A me name Jahshii and me come from Grants Pen, don't want nuh gun, me want me book an' me pen" for the Builder's Music record label. He has been working to carve a path in the local music industry and has since caught the attention of the dancehall community with hits Smooth Yute, Cream of the Crop and 25/8.
