St Catherine siblings freed of murder

St Catherine siblings Nordia Murphy and Junior Edwards of Job Lane, Spanish Town were on Friday freed in the circuit court of the stabbing death of a man.

They were accused of the murder of 49-year-old Dave Facey of St Elizabeth and Job Lane.

In court, attorneys-at-law Earl Hamilton and Jon-Paul Hamilton submitted that there was no nexus in the matter to hold the two accused responsible for Facey's murder.

The court was also told that with no eyewitness to the incident and the failure of witnesses in the case to appear in court, the Crown could not mount a prima facie case.

Justice Yvonne Brown upheld the submission and freed Murphy and Edwards.

Allegations were that on February 2,2019, the deceased was accused of stealing $3,000 from Murphy's bar.

He was chased and the accused shouting 'thief' upon reaching St John's Road where he was cornered.

Facey was reportedly rescued and taken home.

He was later found dead at his premises with stab wounds to his abdomen.

The matter was reported to the police and an investigation was launched, which resulted in the siblings being charged with murder.
