YG Marley, Lauryn Hill light up Reggae Sumfest stage

When multi-Grammy Award winning entertainer Lauryn Hill and her son YG Marley took the Reggae Sumfest stage in St James, Brand Jamaica shared the spotlight right next to them.
The duo, along with Hill’s elder son, Zion Marley, share a long, love-filled history with the island.
YG opened up the set with performances of his original songs Meant to Be and Survival, setting the pace for what was to come, including the welcoming of dancehall entertainer Jahshii who performed his hit song Born Fighter .
But, the audience really exploded when Hill herself took centre stage next to her sons to deliver powerful renditions of some of her biggest songs.
From Ex-Factor and Ready or Not to Killing Me Softly and Fu -Gee-La , fans could just not get enough of the singer – nor she enough of the audience.
Hill, who is known for her time in the hip-hop/rap trio the Fugees and for her widely acclaimed album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill , even shared that one of her hit sings ( Killing me Softly) was written in Jamaica several years ago.
The Marleys and Hill closed out the set with YG performing his biggest hit yet, Praise Jah in the Moonlight, which samples his late grandfather, the legendary Bob Marley, for the intro and an impromptu acapella performance of Turn Your Lights Down Low.
This year, Reggae Sumfest celebrates its 31st anniversary and legendary musical figures like Hill show why the popular show was remained a pillar in the entertainment scene.
