Update | Cop shot in St Catherine released from hospital, colleague in stable condition
One of the two policemen shot during a confrontation with gunmen in West Prospect, St Catherine on Saturday has been released from hospital and is home recuperating.
His colleague remains hospitalised in serious but stable condition.
The Police High Command of the Jamaica Constabulary Force has commended the policemen arising from the incident, charging that their courage and dedication reflect the highest standards of the force.
"The Jamaica Constabulary Force extends heartfelt wishes for their swift and complete recovery. Our thoughts and prayers are with them and their families during this challenging time."
The cops were a part of a police-military team that went to the area in search for wanted men.
Dalon 'Devil' Davis, one of the parish's most wanted criminals, and Tavani 'Benji Benjamin were killed in the firefight.
The police reported that three firearms, including two Taurus pistols, were recovered.
