A Westmoreland disc jockey is facing several charges after he allegedly physically assaulted a woman and threatened her with a gun.

He is 40-year-old Zavian Briscoe of Red Ground in Negril, Westmoreland.

He has been charged with the offences of assault at common law, possession of prohibited weapon and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The Corporate Communications Unit of the police force says about 10:40 a.m. on Wednesday, a woman was walking past Briscoe's house when he allegedly attacked her and pointed a gun at her.

It is alleged that after pointing the gun at the woman, Briscoe used a metal object to hit her. She, however, managed to escape and contacted the police.

Following the woman's report, Briscoe was located and arrested later the same day.

He was formally charged on Friday. The police say his court date is being arranged.
