Taxi operator robbed and beaten in Mona by men dressed as women, attackers charged
The Half-Way Tree police have charged three men who dressed up as women and robbed and severely beat a taxi operator at a house in Mona, St Andrew.
The incident happened on Friday night.
Charged with robbery with aggravation are 26-year-old Jovonnie Miller, otherwise called 'Jade', of Three Hill district, St Mary; 23-year-old Dwight Davis, otherwise called 'Kayla', of Little London, Westmoreland; and 19-year-old Nickyle Hutchinson, otherwise called 'Tahlia', a cosmetologist of West Street in Kingston.
A court date for them is being arranged.
The police report that about 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Davis, Hutchinson and Miller, dressed as women, boarded a taxi at the Cross Roads bus park in St Andrew and requested that they be dropped off at Gerbera Drive in Mona.
According to the police, upon reaching the address, Davis placed a knife against the taxi operator's throat and removed the key from the ignition of the vehicle.
The accused then reportedly relieved the man of his cell phone and dragged him from the vehicle into a house.
The accused men further stole a tablet computer and another phone, according to the police.
They say the taxi man was severely beaten before he was thrown from the house with his car keys.
A report was subsequently made to the police and an operation was conducted at the premises where the accused men were found.
They were arrested and subsequently charged.
