Detectives assigned to the Portland Police Division have charged eight people in relation to the murder of a man at his home in Bamboo Tree Lane, Fairy Hill district in the parish on August 7.

The police say the charges follow weeks of intense investigation.

Three of the persons are charged with murder.

They are 31-year-old Shane Phillips, otherwise called 'Taliban'; 19-year-old Dominique Perkins, otherwise called 'Kentay'; and 18-year-old Raheem Dixon, otherwise called 'Squidly'.

They are from St Andrew and St Catherine addresses.

Meanwhile, an additional five persons, including a teenage boy are charged with conspiracy to murder.

They are 30-year-old taxi operator Xavier Carty; 21-year-old landscaper Chad Hylton; 19-year-old blockmaker Fabian McIntosh; 19-year-old Caavan Jacobs; and a 17-year-old boy of Mannings Hill Road, Kingston 8.

Detectives say about 11:45 a.m., 50-year-old Orlando Louden was at his home when two men armed with handguns pounced upon him and shot him several times.

The men attempted to escape, but the quick response of the Portland Police saw three vehicles being intercepted on the Passley main road in the parish shortly after the incident.

The occupants were arrested and the investigators continued their probe.

Two firearms were reportedly seized when investigators carried out systematic searches of one of the motor vehicles in the days following the incident.

Charges of murder and conspiracy to murder were subsequently laid against the eight men after detectives completed their lines of enquiry and conducted interviews with the men.

Their court dates are being arranged.
