Colin Bell resigns as PNP rep for Portland Eastern

Colin 'Shaka Fame' Bell, the People's National Party (PNP) representative for the Portland Eastern constituency, has resigned from the position, citing a lack of support.

Bell made the announcement on Instagram.

He was selected last August to challenge the ruling Jamaica Labour Party's (JLP) two-term Member of Parliament Ann-Marie Vaz.

Bell was defeated in the race for the Fellowship division by the JLP's Shanique Green in February's Local Government elections.

The defeat sparked concerns within the PNP about his viability as a candidate in parliamentary elections due by September 2025.

Bell urged his supporters to support the next PNP representative.

PNP General Secretary says a new representative will be announced soon. He declined to comment on the Bell's claim that he did not get enough support internally.
