Start an Online Business Today!

Here we are again, just 18 days shy of a new year. So what's the conversation around the water cooler? You need more money; more recognition, more time, more flexibility, and more freedom are just some of, if not all, of the main areas of dissatisfaction in your lives. So what are you going to do about it? Continue complaining year in, year out? That sounds really productive! And will surely take you where you want to go right? NO!

No one is saying to leave your 9-5 job, but what is being suggested is to look into starting something that may earn you an extra income, part-time to supplement your current income, feed your entrepreneurial spirit, improve your self-esteem, and can one day allow you to fire your boss for the part-time is now earning twice as much as the full-time. Sounds good? Not only does it sound good, it can happen, but here's the deal. You have to put time and effort into it. Whether or not you are technologically savvy or have a business idea should not hold you back. That is called finding an excuse to stay in the current position which, remember, is not helping you to get anywhere in life.

learning new skills

The great thing about starting an online business when you don't know how to start is like learning to tie a shoelace for the first time. The childish exuberance and glee when you have learned something new is something worth capturing in a bottle. You never forget those feelings. You are a blank slate open to learning, growing, and building yourself and your business. You learn new skills and are tested in ways you have never experienced before.

Another awesome aspect to starting an online business is that it allows you to have something you can call your own and can be left as a legacy for your family, as well as impact the lives of others, as opposed to building someone else's dreams and legacy from which neither you nor your family will ever benefit. It allows you to reach a global community and sets no limits or boundaries on the size of your network in the market.

Starting a traditional business, that is brick and mortar or a physical entity is good, but the cost associated with doing that surpasses that of an online business and limits your growth and reach. Who wants to be limited these days when you have access to the Internet on your phone or digital device that you can take anywhere?

I encourage many of my author clients to build a business behind their book and I have written articles as well as held webinars and trainings on the subject. The book alone will not make you the money, but a business supporting it will.

vicious cycle

Talking around the water cooler helps to let off some steam and develop a group with shared interests, but what happens when you have to go back to that cubicle or office? Oh yes, face the same ol' humdrum again and again and then you meet at the water cooler. The vicious cycle continues.

Let's make a decision to break that vicious cycle right now, at this moment. No procrastinating for tomorrow, next week or next year. It is NOW!
