The fourth staging of the annual EmpowerFest will be held at Eden Gardens Wellness Resort and Spa on Sunday, July 30.

Organised by Mind Food International, 20 students will receive $10,000 each to help them with back-to-school supplies. These students, from three-18 years old, are from a few inner-city communities in Kingston, including Allman Town and Franklyn Town, just to name a few.

"We know that during back to school, many families struggle to find money to purchase school supplies and pay school fees, and as such, intervention was sought from various companies to provide assistance," said Natassia Wright, co-founder of Mind Food.

"One of our philosophies is, the person in need today may be the solution provider for us all tomorrow if only we can help them achieve what they need today," she said.

The event, to be held under the theme "Shifting the Tides of Society", will include presentations from Dr Fritz Pinnock, Professor Errol Morrison, Senator Floyd Morris, and Natassia Wright.

The event is for all ages, especially for those who are seeking more from life. Students in attendance will have the opportunity to enter for a selection of scholarships. Last year, EmpowerFest helped 15 students with their back-to-school expenses.
