Jamaica among ‘1000 places to see before you die’

In an updated edition of the best-seller 1,000 Places to See Before You Die by New York Times best-selling author Patricia Schultz, the hefty deluxe edition lists a number of inclusions in Jamaica.
The sole photo around the Jamaica listing showcases Rose Hall Great House in Montego Bay, the plantation home of Annie Palmer, the white witch of Rose Hall, but the inclusion shares more detail on the north coast. “Montego Bay draws music fans to Reggae Sumfest in the summer, and the fun continues year-round on Negril’s Seven Mile Beach.” The rave about Jamaica elaborates, “For an authentic sense of old Jamaica, head to Port Antonio, the birthplace of jerk, or Ocho Rios where Ian Flemming wrote his 14 thrillers and Noel Coward lived up the hill”.
1,000 Places to See Before You Die was first published in 2003 following many years of arduous work and back-breaking world travel by the author. It showcases not-to-be-missed locations and attractions in all major regions around the world, and author Patricia Schultz describes her work as “a dream book for those new to travel as well as for veteran travellers curious to expand their bucket lists”.
The new edition was printed in September 2019 and comes with a compelling new layout, fresh and fascinating updates and this edition is photo-driven with less emphasis on text.
Other inclusions on the Jamaica “must do” list are hiking to the Blue Mountains; a visit to Nine Miles in St Ann, the final resting place of Bob Marley; the breathtaking view of Blue Lagoon near Port Antonio; and the nearby Rio Grande rafting, once used to transport bananas to port.
The new gift edition weighs over five pounds, it contains hundreds of dazzling black and white and colour photographs, and it is published by Artisan, a division of Workman Publishing Co, Inc in New York.
