Strictly Addi goes cooler for summer

 

Conceptualised as an ode to the musical artistry of Adidja 'Vybz Kartel' Palmer, 'Strictly Addi' will be held on Saturday, June 24.

Now in its fourth staging, Strictly Addi has grown from a club setting to a packed Sugarman's Beach, Portmore, St Catherine., where the event was held last year. The event's organisers, Jamrock Entertainment Management (JEM), have also switched to a 'cooler fÍte'.

JEM Director of Promotions Marc Hines noted that it is always the team's aim to provide for patrons not just a great setting, but the ideal 'Addi' experience. "No matter how good an event was, there is always room for improvement and we try our utmost to impress our patrons. So, for this staging patrons, can expect some of the best Addi DJs to keep them excited throughout the event." Hines said.

JEM Director of Communications Ibrahim Konteh said "while we definitely intend to bring the 'Vybz', it's important for us that each and every patron leaves the event eager to experience the next one. Last year, we took the event to the beach for the first time and patrons loved it. We are going there again, only this time patrons will be bringing their igloos, their favourite drinks and their best friends.".

 

Aidonia celebrates birthday

 

Deejay Aidonia, whose currently popular songs include Banga and Trigger Work It, had his birthday celebrations held over the Easter weekend in Ocho Rios, St Ann. The celebrations were held at Island Village Beach.

The event also featured performances from Unruly boss Popcaan and 4th Generation camp members Govana, Tanso, Shokryme, Jayds and Mad Patience, among others, who made way for Aidonia.

 

Kabaka, De Island featured on Morgan Heritage's 'We Are'

 

As Morgan Heritage continues on the Avrakedabra World tour, a third single from the forthcoming album has been released globally, not including North America. Produced by Llamar 'Riff Raff' Brown and Morgan Heritage, We Are, featuring Kabaka Pyramid and Dre Island, was featured on 'New Music Friday France' on Spotify upon its release day, April 14.

"We got the track from the producer a year ago from Jamaica and when writing the song, the idea came up to feature Kabaka and Dre on the song. We reached out to them and they were both game to get it done. Their enthusiasm to work with us can be heard in the song. When putting on the final touches and mixing the song in Miami, we all felt this song would definitely connect with this 'intergalactic generation', said Mojo Morgan

"The statement We Are makes is simple. The youth are the future. We are hoping to inspire the young generation to come together, mobilise and change the world for the better.

Morgan Heritage's upcoming album, Avrakedabra, is slated to be released on May 19.

 

L'Horace celebrates In The Morning

 

Singer-Songwriter L'Horace was virtually born into music. "I recall hearing family members singing in my house from an early age," he said. He would soon gravitate towards Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, Beres Hammond and others of that ilk.

Now L'Horace has released In The Morning, his official debut, on his own Steel Cut label.

The tune features Dalton Browne on guitar, Sly Dunbar on drums, Latonya Davis on backing vocals and particularly on the extended acoustic version piano by Stephen Stewart, who also mixed both original reggae and acoustic tracks.

L'Horace left Jamaica in early adolescence with his family and resided in the US, where his musical life began in earnest. Through a number of transitions, such as local talent and club scenes, studio work and a stint in a local group, he entered the church and began writing and singing gospel and inspirational tunes.

In The Morning is the first outcome of that quest. His intended follow-up is a cover of Stevie Wonder's '70s radio anthem Love's In Need of Love Today.
