Puccini's 'La Bohème' encores at Palace Cineplex this Sunday

The Met: Live in HD continued its 12th season last Saturday with its live transmission of Puccini's La Boheme, taking in an estimated attendance of 84,885 in North America and earning a gross of $1.875 million. A constant presence at the Metropolitan Opera since 1981, the Franco Zeffirelli production of La Boheme devoured the Met's stage with an exciting cast. It was seen live on more than 900 screens in the US. An estimated additional 132,000 people saw it live on 800 screens in 37 countries in Europe, 11 countries in Latin America, Russia, Egypt, Israel, Jamaica, and Morocco.

Often called the world's most popular opera, Franco Zefferelli's classic production stars Sonya Yoncheva and Michael Fabiano as the young lovers Mimi and Rodolfo, with Susanna Phillips as Musetta and Lucas Meachem as Marcello. The performance is conducted by Marco Armiliato.

La Boheme is the sixth of 10 live transmissions to be shown this season. It encores at Palace Cineplex this Sunday at 11:30 a.m. The next live transmission will be Semiramide, Rossini's rarely performed masterpiece of vocal fireworks, on Saturday, March 10.
