D’Yani ready to get ‘Intimate’ on New Year’s Day
If New Year resolutions are anything to go by, fast-rising musical talent D’Yani is gearing up for a year of massive success. Having a melody that connects generations, the young singer is ready to perform amongst the world’s biggest reggae icons at the Intimate Jamaica Concert, headlined by Beres Hammond and Buju Banton. The event, slated for Sunday, January 1, 2023, at Grizzly’s Plantation Cove in St Ann, promises to be one for the history books.
Conscious of the magnitude of this great feat, the 28-year-old vocalist intends to impress patrons through a superb performance of his own. “For the past two weeks I’ve been practising my set. It isn’t every day that you get up with the great opportunity to perform on the same stage with the giants of the industry. And I’ll be putting in two more weeks of hardcore full band rehearsals, right up until show night,” he said.
Looking forward to the night of grand performance, the Feelings singer plans to use the occasion to hone his craft. “Who wouldn’t want to perform with the great Beres and Buju; it’s a blessing. And I know my mom is looking forward to their performances, perhaps even more than mine,” he laughed. “But for me, I plan to learn from them, to observe how well they manoeuvre and manipulate the stage, and amaze the audience with their prolific style of delivery.”
No stranger to interacting with the concert’s headline acts, D’Yani is pleased to be working alongside them on a different calibre at the Red Stripe-sponsored event. When asked if he was meeting them for the first time and what question would he have for them, with no hesitation he happily responded, “Can I get a collaboration?” Indeed, closed mouths don’t get fed.
The songster promises to deliver a captivating set. “For this performance, fans can look forward to witnessing the strength of my sound. I want to showcase the prowess of my vocals. The use of props won’t be dominant on my set any at all. Just you, me and the sincere, soulful and sensual sound of my voice,” he assured.
Singing praise to concert sponsor Red Stripe and their continued support for Jamaican music, D’Yani shared that he is humbled to be a part of a line-up. “Since I was growing up, I’ve always heard of Red Stripe being a part of musical events, whether great or small. And I remember thinking that it is brands like these that make it possible for the show to go on. So when I tell you I’m grateful for the opportunity, believe me,” he ended.
