Detoxing After Restaurant Week
Finally Restaurant Week is here. It is the time to dive into the amazing food sanctuaries and treat your taste buds to joyrides of scrumptious foods and sweet treats. Whatever suits your style, an evening of fine dining, drop by for a little 'Nyam and Scram' or the others, you deserve it! Remember, the fantasy only lasts a while. Sad. But what better way to return to your usual life than with a detox?
Natalie Murray, a health coach, is here to help you to steadily get back on track. There is more than enough food for you to overindulge in throughout Restaurant Week, and at the end, your body will be desperately begging you for a nutritional cleansing. Murray says the best way to do this is have a detox meal plan.
"For breakfast, you can have a green smoothie and fruits, a liquid (beverage) of your choice and a small salad as a snack," Murray said.
Your lunch must also be a healthy choice, preferably no meat and definitely not white rice. Murray recommends a bowl of vegetable soup made with a combination of vegetables of your choice, which will certainly cleanse your body of the toxic residual food that lingers. She adds, "If you are hungry, for dinner you can have grilled chicken."
CALL IN THE PROS
Before you start a detox programme, it is best that you consult a professional for guidance. This way, you can have a plan tailored just for you in order to properly meet your needs.
"A detox lightens toxin burdens and eliminates foods that disrupt your energy or make you feel bloated. These foods differ among persons but take, for example, sugar, if you have a lot of deserts," Murray explained.
Don't think for a second that you won't need to detox because you have a properly functioning liver. "You clean the filter in your car, so why shouldn't you clean the filter in your body?" Murray asks. This is one of the most common myths that arise when you talk about detox. But this is not an excuse not to refresh the body. "Many people believe juice cleansing is effective. However, you do not get enough fibre or protein in a juice cleanse," she told Flair. So be sure to schedule your detox after a great time throughout Restaurant Week. "Remember when you are ready to detox, drink a lot of fluids and avoid exercising, drinking alcohol and consuming gluten," Murray said.
