“Hot cross buns, hot cross buns. One a penny, two a penny.” We’ve come a long way from that pricing. But hot cross buns just got sweeter with slices of Easter, courtesy of Honey Bun. Yes, you read right. Putting a little love in every bite, the bakery opted for a cutting-edge approach to the season’s staple, and introduced the very first sliced bun to the island.

According to Marketing Executive Leah Carruthers, the company has been producing long buns for close to 20 years. “It was a great idea that was conceptualised because we know the lifestyle of our customer base to be fast-paced and one that entertains convenience, so we thought, why not think outside of the box?” And that they did.

This Easter, Honey Bun is aspiring to achieve awareness when it comes to the sliced buns. it’s the first time it is being placed on the market, so even though it is being sold, they welcome positive and constructive feedback to see if it is something that should be brought forward or discontinued. “We have all confidence that it is something foodies would gravitate to,” she added.

So what makes their buns stand out among the rest? For Honey Bun, it’s the quality local ingredients that are placed in the product. Shying away from a lot of preservatives, the establishment leans more towards exploring on the natural side of things. “We wish we could’ve said it was gluten-free, but it isn’t. We don’t stock and pile buns: they are made fresh for the season.”

Not an already sliced lover? Well, no problem. The company also offers whole hot cross buns in 30-ounce, 28-ounce and 40-ounce boxes. “We hope that people indulge in our brand because we have one of the best buns out there: it’s tasty and we put a whole lot of love in it.” So slice out happiness with an Easter bun from Honey Bun today.
