When you think of gourmet sandwiches, flavourful burgers and tantalisingly rich soups, the first place that comes to mind is Pimentos. Located inside the courtyard of Devon House, the upscale bistro opened its doors late last year and was welcomed with open arms by several locals on the quest of finding something new to excite their taste buds. With the use of technology and their culinary maestro, head Chef Kartylyn Watson, Pimentos makes waiting and dining an exciting experience.

Upon entering the bistro, be prepared to be greeted by the wonderful smell of home-cooked food prepared with love. As the aromatic mixture of spices and waft your senses, your body will instantly prepare itself to start digging in. With a menu board full of savoury delights, their friendly staff is prepared to watch you wait as you try to figure out your purchase. To make it easier, Food has prepared a list of Pimentos must-try meals which were recommended to us by Brand Manager Krishna Davis. These include: the Pimentos prime hamburger, the Pimentos cheese steak, the seafood chowder and the pineapple cranberry salad.

After ordering, you will receive a buzzer which gives you the opportunity to take a tour of your beautiful surroundings. You can go anywhere within the courtyard and still be notified when your food is ready. This gives customers the ability to window shop, relax in the cool breeze or immerse themselves in conversation with new and old friends. Nothing is more thrilling than hearing it beep, and rushing inside the ­bistro to see the attendant waiting to hand over your food. Pimentos makes waiting so easy by not allowing you to even think about it.

The environment is perfect for an informal business brunch, lunch run or a laid-back date, as Pimentos provides an outdoor dining experience. Since opening, the bistro has lived up to its flavourful name with a plethora of good feedback from local customers and tourists. It has significantly contributed to the status of Devon House, the number-one gastronomical hub in Kingston. “We now offer delivery through 7 Crave, so persons can simply order and have Pimentos delivered to them,” Davis added.
