There’s nothing like a mouth-watering brunch to feed your soul. And recently, I was introduced to a savoury spot that provides sweet offerings for breakfast and lunch lovers.

This charming eatery bears a unique name, Brunch 4 the Busy, and offers an ultimate club sandwich, akin to an exciting all-inclusive event for your palate with the finest fillings: signature flavoured bacon, ham, turkey, eggs, caramelised onion, tomatoes, and lettuce and sauces served between slices of bread, the top half boasting the restaurant’s stamp. This delightful dish is made complete with the option of pressed green plantains or ripe plantains on the side.

If you’re a fan of eggs and a lover of callaloo, then the callaloo omelette, a ‘Jamerican’ fusion, will be the ideal choice for you. Getting the best of both worlds, this full house dish is packed with the green leafy and tasty vegetable, cooked to perfection, alongside cheese, herbs and spices.

Then there are distinctively pleasing fluffy cheesecake pancakes, infused with the rich and creamy flavours of cheesecake. And the rainbow waffles, an absolute dream with dazzling, playful colours. Customers keep up the tradition of putting the fresh house-made blueberry compote on top.

According to the owner, Kamaica Fagan, Brunch 4 the Busy was a concept born out of providing a brunch-like experience for people who are always on the go. “I noticed that many, including myself, often struggled to find time for a proper breakfast or lunch due to busy schedules. I wanted to convey the idea that even if you have a busy schedule, you can still enjoy a leisurely and delicious meal which combines the best elements of breakfast and lunch. The name reflects our mission to cater to the needs of busy individuals who crave a satisfying and convenient dining option,” she told Food.

Offering continental as well as local breakfast options, along with lunch, her aim was to expand the food range and create a flavour haven for persons to savour a satisfying meal.

Fagan is no stranger to flavour. The entrepreneur is carrying on the tradition of entrepreneurship from her mother, who owned and operated a restaurant as its chef. Growing up, she would assist her mother with running the business, and that became the best introduction.

As she got older and began travelling the world, the food enthusiast fell in love with the rich taste of strawberry cheesecake pancakes at IHOP. “I told my friends that when I returned to Jamaica, I’d create my own version of the foods I experienced. My zeal for introducing the world to my innovative food ideas led to me asking my mom if could use her restaurant on Sundays. She agreed and Brunch 4 The Busy became a reality.”

Since opening its doors in August 2018, business has grown, while fluctuating in and out of season. However, last year was overwhelmingly positive, she says.

“We have received great feedback from our customers who appreciate the unique concept of combining breakfast and lunch. Our focus on quality ingredients, creative menu items, and excellent service has helped us build a loyal customer base and establish a strong reputation in the community,” Fagan added.

Taking inspiration from various cuisines and incorporating seasonal ingredients keep the menu fresh and exciting. “I ensure dishes stand out through the attention to flavour [and] to flavour details and combinations. I like the simplicity of my dishes, and it’s all about value for money. At the end of the day, I strive to provide a memorable dining experience that sets us apart from other establishments.”

With the goal to expand business operations to a larger space and more menu options, Fagan hopes to bring Brunch 4 the Busy into more communities and create more jobs for persons who enjoy working in the food industry.

“Our menu is filled with creative, mouth-watering dishes made with love to tantalise your taste buds. In the future, I plan to have at least one location that is open 24 hours from Monday through to Sunday. My goal is to become a go-to destination for people looking for a welcoming atmosphere that provides a delicious and relaxing brunch experience, even outside of brunch hours,” she said.
