Several detained, weapons and ammunition seized in Spanish Town

The police are reporting the detention of several people and the seizure of two firearms and several rounds of ammunition following a joint operation with members of the army in Spanish Town, St Catherine yesterday. 

The police say the operation was carried out in an area known as ‘Big Tree’ and searches conducted in the bus park and at premises on Spencer Lane, Valdez Road, Tawes Pen and Wellington Street.

Searches conducted:
* 47 premises
*123 houses
*16 unfinished buildings
* 7 motor cars
* 2 shops and 
*189 people

The police say premises on March Pen Road were also searched and one Sig-Pro 9mm pistol containing sixteen 9mm rounds and one Corandi 9mm pistol with a magazine containing thirteen 9mm rounds seized.

An additional eleven 9mm rounds were reportedly found in a beverage bottle.
