Keep Heroes Park as green space for all

THE EDITOR, Sir:

In recent years, we witnessed the establishment of a car park associated with the Ministry of Finance in the National Heroes Park. A new building was constructed for that ministry, but there was no thought of having a level or a few levels for parking.

It passed by quietly, but his idea of constructing a Parliament building in the middle of the park must be met with loud and sustained opposition. In 'National Heroes Park must remain true to its intended purpose' (Gleaner, May 16, 2018), the writer provides all the compelling reasons why it is a bad idea to deprive that area of the Corporate Area not just a green space, but an important historic site.

When the political leadership in this country has no appreciation for the history of the country, what should we expect from the citizens?

In that same area where the present Parliament building is located is the historical legislative site in Kingston. There is adequate land space there to build a new Parliament building. I strongly oppose the construction of the Parliament building at National Heroes Park proper.
