Making dollars from cents

Published:Thursday | June 21, 2018 | 12:00 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir:

The Government has officially withdrawn from circulation all 'red' money (10- and 25-cent coins).

Even before the official proclamation, these coins could be seen all over the place, on sidewalks, for example, as the populace did not recognise their purchasing power. All items then and now are valued to the nearest dollar.

I suppose we are finally acknowledging that we have a few dollars but no sense.

I do believe, however, that the copper contained in these coins have industrial value. I suggest that they should be collected and sold to companies that manufacture electronic items, as they could be melted and reused. These cents can make sense.
