Mark Wignall on the mark!

THE EDITOR, Madam:

Poignant, epic and moving into deep philosophy is the article by Mark Wignall in The Sunday Gleaner, published August 7. I read his amazing commentary after Mass in Portland. His writing struck a beautiful chord as I drove along the beautiful coastline decked with Jamaican flags.

Mark on the right “mark” touches deep into the chord of the truth of the Jamaican reality – this amazing ability to transform our reality evolving above the storms.

We live in the terror of a real life movie, yet we transcend the fires and bullets by living.

As Wignall posits, “There is no trust” in anything or anyone but we survive despite imminent and real danger!

We wrestle to live because that is all we are sure of.

Despite our vigorous preaching of a best life ever-after, the sunshine, fruits and fresh air of Jamaica are more than blessings.

In diplomatic fashion, Wignall grapples with the “BET movie” high-wire scenarios to land his audience in philosophical revelling.

I, too, am clipping to the “gospel”.... meditating daily on song like Jireh by Maverick and Kirk Franklin sung in the prisons in the Everglades, Florida, USA.

If He dresses the lilies with beauty and splendour

How much more will He clothe you?

How much more will He clothe you?

If He watched over every sparrow

How much more does He love you?

How much more does He love you?

It is not mindless escape ... we may not trust mortals ... but what we ah go do? GOD DEH YAH!

Excellent, Mark Wignall! Thanks for a menu of finest reading.
