There’s nothing wrong with Jamaicans
THE EDITOR, Madam:
I have to admit, I read the Dear Pastor column in THE STAR on a regular basis, and just realised something astonishing. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the people of this country. All their actions are due to trauma, physical, psychological, mental, emotional. We are a traumatised nation, and there is no one on this planet that can help us but ourselves.
It is time we remove ourselves from the company of those who limit our abilities, force-feed us lies to keep us in place, instil fear within us to make us humble. Mind you, bad exists, but it exists everywhere. We cannot allow fear and shame to hold us back. We all have a purpose, and we were built exactly to suit that purpose. All we need is to wake up from our sleep and be ourselves.
Slavery has done a number on us, and religion has cemented it in place. Our souls still yearn for our homeland, we will never be free until we all return. What we have before us isn’t a life, it’s all lies, filled with actors and players. We’ve all forgotten who we are and are trying desperately to be what we see on television and social media.
In the end, all this is becasue of the trauma we encountered, which keeps repeating itself. Once we become aware of our actions and our response to our immediate surroundings, we will come around. Don’t do anything to hurt or anger anyone. Remember, every action generates a response. Treat every one with respect, say please and thank you and mean it. Most of all, let’s listen to each other without judgement. No one is perfect, we all mess up. Leave people business alone. Don’t be a people business thief.
