Air Jamaica took flight once again last Saturday as Theophilio debuted its Spring/Summer 2022 collection, named after the former carrier, during New York Fashion Week. Edvin Thompson, the Jamaica-born designer behind Theophilio, took showgoers on a journey coloured by the red, green and gold of the Rastafarian flag and filled with aeronautical, home-grown Jamaican aesthetics, from the play on the stewardess’ uniform to the cuts, fabric, stitching and swagger. It’s no wonder the 2021 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist’s brand is described as a “wearable biography”. This collection told tales not just of Air Jamaica, but of our complex people, experience and heritage. Something Extra brings you the highlights.
