WESTERN BUREAU:

In the aisles of Fontana Pharmacy in Montego Bay in 2019, destiny intervened in an unexpected way. Robin Williams, a dynamic business manager from Westmoreland, found himself perplexed in the haircare section. Seeking advice, he turned to the nearest female shopper, who happened to be Dr Shasha-Marie Williams, a distinguished dermatologist trained at Cardiff University in the UK. This serendipitous meeting sparked a love story for the ages.

“Robin was looking for hair products. To his convenience, being a dermatologist, I gave him some haircare advice. We continued communicating thereafter,” Shasha-Marie told Island Wedding.

“He later asked me on a date, but we share the same last name (Williams), so I was a bit sceptical. We later went through our family trees and found that we weren’t related,” shared the bride, who said ‘I do’ just over six months ago.

Their first date was nothing short of magical. Meeting at one of MoBay’s most popular restaurants, The Pelican Grill, the duo quickly realised they had a special connection. They were so captivated by each other that even after dinner, they couldn’t bear to part ways. “We found ourselves at DLE Cafe, indulging in more food and laughter, and ended the night with a nostalgic stroll through Fontana, revelling in each other’s company,” said Shasha-Marie.

The couple went on a second date at Chill Out Hut, describing it as something out of a romance novel. Under the moonlit sky, on a pier surrounded by the gentle waves of the ocean, they shared their first kiss. Adding to the enchantment, Robin’s dramatic gesture of flagging down Shasha-Marie on the highway to return her forgotten phone added a touch of cinematic flair to the night.

“He handed me the phone, whispered ‘You left something,’ kissed my forehead, and wished me goodnight—an unforgettable ending to a perfect date,” she reminisced.

Their love story continued to blossom even as the world faced the challenges of a global pandemic. Her demanding hours at Accident and Emergency at the Cornwall Regional Hospital were met with Robin’s unwavering support. He would patiently wait in the parking lot to drive her home or meet her halfway, ensuring her safety. Despite occasional run-ins with lockdown enforcers, his consistency never faltered.

The couple also found joy in exploring new restaurants, with Catcha Falling Star in Negril becoming their favourite spot. Their mutual love for water adventures led them to snorkelling and sailing on catamarans, creating a treasure trove of shared memories.

After three wonderful years of dating, Robin orchestrated a proposal at Lovers’ Leap in St Elizabeth. “It was a moment filled with love, excitement, and the promise of forever,”described the couple.

BRINGING A

FAIRY-TALE TO LIFE

Shasha-Marie had always dreamed of a fairy-tale wedding, and with Robin’s dedication that dream was brought to life. Their wedding was planned to perfection by Floral Fantasy and Set The Stage Event Planning and Management. As an operations manager at Floral Fantasy, a company founded by his parents in 1998, Robin’s expertise and passion ensured that every detail was meticulously crafted.

Family and friends also played a pivotal role in making their wedding day extraordinary, working tirelessly to create a day beyond their wildest dreams. Her aunt, Paulette Christie, delighted guests with a beautiful three-tier wedding cake. Shasha-Marie's personalised bridal robe, crafted by her mother-in-law, Ms Fray, added a touch of heartfelt elegance to her transition from Miss to Mrs.

The pair got wed on the lush lawns of the Montego Bay Convention Centre. A violinist from Hung Entertainment set the tone with a beautiful prelude, creating an enchanting atmosphere as Shasha-Marie and Robin exchanged vows.

Dr Shasha-Marie Williams and Robin Williams’ love story is a testament to the power of fate, unwavering support, and the beauty of shared dreams. As they embark on this new chapter together, they look forward to a journey filled with love, adventure, and cherished memories.
