Court to rule tomorrow on teen detained in 'ISIS' case

The Family Court is to rule tomorrow on whether the teen detained on suspicion that he was trying to join Islamic militants in the Middle East should be released from police custody.
The court has issued a gag order barring attorneys and police in the case from discussing the matter with the media.
The rulings came following a habeas corpus application filed today by attorneys representing the St Mary teen.
The 16-year-old boy has been in custody since Saturday after being deported from Suriname.
The teen was denied entry into Suriname after authorities there theorised that he was heading to The Netherlands, then to Turkey to join the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
However, his family has denied claims that the teen was trying to join Islamic militants.
According to the boy’s grand-uncle, the teen was attempting to visit his mother, who he had not seen in six years, in England.
The man says since the teen did not have a visa to enter the United Kingdom, he planned to meet up with his mother and grandmother in the Netherlands before travelling to England.
