A 24-year-old St Elizabeth man charged under the anti-lottery scamming Act was granted $1 million bail when he appeared in court yesterday.
Edroy Thompson was ordered to return to the Santa Cruz Resident Magistrate’s Court on July 13.
It is alleged that in March, Thompson was in Santa Cruz to acquire a wrecker to tow a vehicle when he was approached by a plain clothed policeman.
It is understood that the policeman took his phone and searched it and found identity information.
Thompson was subsequently arrested and charged.
However, the 24-year-old claims that the phone had been purchased from someone and he had no knowledge it contained such information.
