2015-2016 property tax payments deadline tomorrow

Property owners are being reminded that they have until tomorrow to pay their property taxes for the 2015-2016 fiscal year.

Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) says late payments will attract a fee of 10 per cent. 

Meanwhile, the TAJ is reminding that property tax rates for the current year have not been increased.

It says taxpayers have the option of making their property tax payments in half-yearly installments in April and October or in quarterly instalments due April, July, October, and January.  

Meanwhile, the TAJ is warning persons who are in arrears for previous years that compliance action may be taken against them for the overdue amounts.

It says persons experiencing difficulty paying the outstanding amounts should visit the nearest tax office to speak with a compliance officer to make a payment arrangement.
