St Mary computer technician charged after posing as custom broker
A 34-year-old St Mary computer technician accused of posing as a custom broker, has been charged with obtaining money by false pretence.
The police say Howard Hamilton, of Mahogany Circle, St Mary Country Club was charged yesterday and remanded after appearing before the St Ann Resident magistrate’s Court.
He is scheduled to appear before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on May 12.
It is alleged that Hamilton posed as a custom broker and was entrusted with a deposit of $3.2 million to import a motor vehicle.
The police say the date of delivery passed and no vehicle was delivered to the client.
Enquiries were reportedly made and it was discovered that Hamilton was not a custom broker.
He was arrested following an investigation by the Counter Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigation Division.
