CARIMAC to host vigil for deceased lecturer

The Caribbean Institute of Media and Communication (CARIMAC) will be hosting a vigil on its lawns on Friday, in tribute to former lecturer, Charmaine Henry, who died on Monday.

Professor Hopeton Dunn, Director of the Institute, based at the Mona campus of the University of the West Indies, says the candle-light vigil is scheduled for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

He says there has been a wide outpouring of grief and tribute since Henry's death and the event will allow all CARIMAC stakeholders to pay their tributes in a focused manner.

“Although we’ve had events among the staff, it is important that the students and other stakeholders should get the opportunity to make their expressions of their grief and tribute. It is coming from the CARIMAC community in tribute to Charmaine”, said Dunn.

Henry died on Monday following a period of illness.

She taught communications and public relations at the CARIMAC and previously worked at the Jamaica Tourist Board.

She has been hailed for her enthusiasm, compassion and outgoing personality.

Henry was pursuing her Doctor of Philosophy degree up to the time of her illness.
