Police to charge driver of overloaded minibus following crash, students hurt
The Clarendon police say they will be charging the driver of an overloaded minibus which crashed while transporting students this morning.
According to the police, the driver was speeding.
Fifteen students of the Garvey Maceo High School in Clarendon, had to be rushed to the May Pen Hospital following the crash along Foga Road in the parish.
Two of them sustained serious injuries while the others were treated for minor cuts and bruises.
The driver of the bus was also injured.
The minibus overturned after it slammed into a Honda motor car as it tried to overtake a truck.
The driver of the Honda, who was heading towards May Pen, said the bus collided with his fender before it overturned.
He said he counted at least 28 students on the bus.
Up to late this afternoon parents were turning up at the hospital enquiring about their children.
