Road crashes claim 28 lives in first 27 days of 2016

The National Road Safety Council (NRSC) is reporting that 28 persons have died on the Jamaica’s roads in the first 27 days of 2016.
Twenty-four persons died in the corresponding period last year.
There has been a 150 per cent increase in the number of motorcyclists killed for the period.
Fifteen motorcyclists died in crashes in the first 27 days of the year, compared to six in the similar period last year.
Four pedestrians succumbed to injuries received in road crashes and six persons died in private motor cars during the period.
