Party promoters give back to community
A team from 'St Thomas Link Up', an annual party that takes place in the parish, recently donated a few well needed items to the Morant Bay Infirmary.
The items valued at approximately $120,000 included sheet sets, blankets, pillows, diapers and various toiletries and cleaning agents.
Promoter of St Thomas Link Up, Marico Cameron shared with Rural Xpress that his team was willing to do its part in making St Thomas and Jamaica by extension the place of choice to live, work, raise families and do business, and as such they have taken on the infirmary as their charity of choice.
"The elderly laid the foundation on which we have to build to achieve Vision 2030 and so they must be taken care of," Cameron said.
There is a hope that someday there will be a recreational centre, a library, gym, games room and dining area for those persons who are not bed-ridden at the facility.
The infirmary currently raises chickens and sells eggs in an attempt to subsidise expenses.
