Market, hospital to get Labour Day attention

In observance of the theme for Labour Day, 'For Health's Sake....Keep it Clean', the St Ann Parish Council has earmarked the cleaning of the Alexandria Market as the council's main project for Labour Day, Monday, May 23.

Elsewhere in St Ann, the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association (JHTA), Ocho Rios, Runaway Bay Chapter, will, again be focusing its attention on the St Ann's Bay Regional Hospital.

Public relations officer at the council, Kaydian Harty, said the priority at the Alexnadria Market would be to remove garbage that has been piling up at the site and try to prevent further dumping of garbage by residents.

"We will be cleaning up the area and we will build a garbage receptacle to encourage the proper disposal of garbage," Harty said.

Harty said councillors across the parish will be involved in activities in their respective divisions. Meanwhile, area chairman of the JHTA, Vana Taylor said that this is the ninth consecutive year that the association would be

focusing on the hospital.
